Britain In The Sun

Last week I went on a field trip to sunny UK territory of Gibraltar as part of my Geography university course. It was so nice to get away from the depressing gloom of the English winter to the Mediterranean sunshine. A group of 30 of us stayed there for a week, working in groups of 3/4 to try and complete field work relating to our chosen area of study. I was lucky in that my 2 best friends are on the same course as me and we were in a group together. So we worked hard on the first couple of days of the trip so that we would have the rest of the week to relax in the sun and explore the amazing peninsula. It was also my birthday out there, so although I was sad to be away from my family on my 20th birthday, my friends made sure I had an amazing time (although I can't say, that after all that alcohol, I really remember a huge amount of it). Overall we had such an incredible time; everybody there is so friendly and people were tripping over themselves to help us with our project. The sites there are amazing too. If you ever go, the top of the rock is a must - the views are breathtaking! Aside from that, there is plenty to do (far more than I had initially anticipated for such a small place). The military history and related sites are fascinating, the monkeys freely roaming the streets are adorable (all be it sometimes violent) and the sociable piazzas full of cafes, bars and shops are a great way to spend lazy afternoons.

Upon returning back to London Gatwick, we were welcomed by strong winds and rain, it almost felt as though we hadn't been in glorious sunshine just a few hours ago! Now to plan my next holiday....
