Last night was my first night out back in Oxford after an extremely long Christmas break in London. My two best friends and I headed to a student lock-in at a hairdressers. It was a great event with an open bar (definate plus!) and DJ and we were also able to get our hair styled before heading to off to the club next door.

Britain In The Sun

Last week I went on a field trip to sunny UK territory of Gibraltar as part of my Geography university course. It was so nice to get away from the depressing gloom of the English winter to the Mediterranean sunshine. A group of 30 of us stayed there for a week, working in groups of 3/4 to try and complete field work relating to our chosen area of study. I was lucky in that my 2 best friends are on the same course as me and we were in a group together. So we worked hard on the first couple of days of the trip so that we would have the rest of the week to relax in the sun and explore the amazing peninsula. It was also my birthday out there, so although I was sad to be away from my family on my 20th birthday, my friends made sure I had an amazing time (although I can't say, that after all that alcohol, I really remember a huge amount of it). Overall we had such an incredible time; everybody there is so friendly and people were tripping over themselves to help us with our project. The sites there are amazing too. If you ever go, the top of the rock is a must - the views are breathtaking! Aside from that, there is plenty to do (far more than I had initially anticipated for such a small place). The military history and related sites are fascinating, the monkeys freely roaming the streets are adorable (all be it sometimes violent) and the sociable piazzas full of cafes, bars and shops are a great way to spend lazy afternoons.

Upon returning back to London Gatwick, we were welcomed by strong winds and rain, it almost felt as though we hadn't been in glorious sunshine just a few hours ago! Now to plan my next holiday....

Accessories Haul!

The last couple of weeks, I have been shopping too many times! And, at this time of year, I should be taking advantage of the amazing sales and reductions, but I always find myself in the non-sale stuff! I guess I'm a lazy shopper, and the idea of trying to look through racks of unorganised clothes whilst fighting off aggressive bargain hunters and trying to dodge discarded garments on the floor is just so unappealing too me. I like the organised and tidy rest of the store as opposed to the chaotic sale corner, so although I love a bargain, I don't manage to grab to many.
The last couple of times I have been shopping, I have found some great bits from high street stores. Although when looking back at my purchases, I realised that I have particularly stockpiled on accessories.

I got this purse from River Island for £15.00. I've needed a new purse for ages now, and I always love RI ones! I also found this gorgeous necklace in RI for £12.00, it's so pretty!
This bag is from Forever21 and was just £19.90. I usually carry massive bags around, and I think this is a far more sensible every day bag.
These beauties are from H&M and were £24.99. They are so comfortable, and go with anything.
I love nail varnishes and thought these colours were so fun. Both are from River Island and were only a couple of quid. I can't wait to use them!
I got this bracelet when exchanging a Christmas present. I picked the string pull bracelet as I already have a classic Thomas Sabo charm bracelet. I love the summery feel of the bracelet with the cute seahorse charm.

New Year, New Me

So 2013 has just ended, and what an amazing year it was. I passed my first year of university (with what I think were pretty good grades); had two awesome holidays to Cyprus and Thailand with my family; a holiday to Greece with my friends; moved into a new flat in Oxford and finished off the year with a lovely Christmas at home surrounded by my family. All I can hope now is that this new year is going to be an equally amazing year. I already have some things planned that have me all excited for 2014!

Things I'm looking forward to:
  • My birthday! At the end of this month I'll be turning 20 (although I haven't quite decided whether I'm excited or terrified for this)
  • Plenty of concerts! This year I'm lucky enough to have tickets to see The 1975, Bastille, Frank Turner and Fallout Boy. I cannot express how excited I am for these!
  • A university funded trip to Gibraltar, where I'll spend a week with some of my best friends
  • Some friends and I are also planning a trip to Germany for the Oktoberfest so we can enjoy beer and cider to our  hearts content!

There are also plenty of other things I want to do this year and I can't wait to start planning! I also have some resolutions - although in the past I have not been entirely successful at sticking to these, it doesn't stop me making them...

My New Years Resolutions:
  • To be more positive about things
  • To take my studies more seriously
  • To blog more often and more consistently
  • To eat more healthily, exercise and lose weight
  • To try harder at keeping in contact with school friends

Just a few days into the year, who can say what will happen, but I can only hope for the best and try my hardest to make sure that I have the year that I want to have!

Good luck to everyone with resolutions to keep to and a very happy New Year to you all!!
