It's Prom Time!

Prom is seen as a 'rite of passage' for many high school kids.
I personally think that it's overrated, nonetheless, I went with my friends and we had a good time. This is us last year at our prom:
Prom: Me (in French Connection dress) and the girls, Rachel, Hannah, Talya and Penny.
In July my sister is having her year 11 prom, a lot of the girls in her year see it as the event of the year. She however, does not. My sister is her own person, she always has been, she never gets drawn in by trends, doesn't wear make-up, she has her own quirky fashion sense and her group of eccentric friends, she has always been independent, with an I-don't-care-what-any-one-thinks attitude. So prom is not a great excitement for her, because the majority of our school is chavvy rich kids and she knows that most of her year will come in the same kind of dress (probably all from Lipsy) in bright garish colours and probably far too much satin.
When she finally decided to go, I was allowed (after lots of pestering) to help with the dress shopping. I love my sister, but she is the fussiest person, so I had to stick to her guidelines, that included: nothing strapless or too low cut, no 'boring' nudes or pink, not too short, preferably with embellishments or a statement feature, nothing too pouffy.
So this is what we found:
                     1)                                                             2)
1) This dress is from Miss Selfridge, its £85.
2)The second beauty is from Topshop, its £150. I love the detail on this dress of the on capped sleeve and the sequin embellishment, and my sister loved the mesh detail.

                   3)                                                               4)
3) This was on of the first dresses we saw, its from French Connection and is £195. They also had it with red flowers which she preferred but they sold out.
4) This was something a bit different from the other dresses we'd looked at, there's no embellishment, it's very simple and elegant. The asymmetric sleeves give it a quirky touch, and the bright ombre print colours are lovely. Its from Topshop; £165.  At the moment this seems to be the front runner.

                     5)                                                             6)
5) This dress is from Miss Selfridge, and for £68 you get a cute lemon-coloured embellished frock. When she tried this dress on though, it didn't fit right around the bust, so it has been discarded.
6) French Connection did it again with this £125 dress, at the front and back of the dress there is cut-out details with bead embellishment on. She has tried on the white version of this dress because we couldn't find the blue, but concluded it was to bland in white.

7) This was my sisters favourite dress. She ignored to no strapless and nothing to short rules for this dress from Aqua (found at ASOS); £98. She loved it because it is simple and still quirky becuse of the structural look. The dress came in a deep red, which is what she wanted, but it sold out.

National Movie Awards 2011

On Thursday night, I went to the National Film Awards at Wembley Stadium with my mum and sister. I always watch these awards shows on the TV, but it's a totally different experience when you're actually there. It was an amazing night with some great awards for some great films, also there was brilliant performances from Take That, Eliza Doolittle and JLS.
Take That opened the show with their new song Love Love for the X-Men: First Class movie released this summer.

Once again, I've had my lovely sister prancing around the garden for me so that I could attempt levitation, it was tricky, but I think I'm pleased with how they turned out... whaddya think?

Eagle Eye

I've noticed that a lot of other bloggers do a 'today's outfit' post, and at first I felt a bit shy to do my own but I figured I'd give it a go today, so here we go:

Eagle top: Topshop
Jeans: Gap

I bought these bracelets yesterday from Aldo, and I love them so much! There my favourite new accessory!

Studded pumps: River Island

My new favourite pair of shoes! I wear them pretty much every day, because there comfy and they instantly make any outfit so much cooler!
However, the other day my friend was barefoot and she stepped on my foot accidentally and now she is not a fan of them...

To dye or not to dye?

Either everyone in Hollywood has forgotten to touch up their roots or we have a new trend on our hands...
Two-tone hair, or dip-dye hair, is quickly becoming a favourite trend. These 7 celebs show how its done:

Red Carpet Look: Blake Lively

Blake Lively channels Disney's Little Mermaid at the Time 100 Gala in a Haute Couture evening gown by Zuhair Murad. The 23-year-old blonde bombshell has dyed her locks red for her new film 'Hicks', also starring Chloe Mortez. I love this look, but she has said that it is not a permanent change.

The Royal Wedding: Part 2

On Friday the world witnessed a real-life fairy tale as Kate exchanged rings with her Prince.

Kate looked absolutely stunning as she stepped out of her car in an Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton. The intricate lace appliqué bodice and sleeves of Kate's dress mirror those on icon Grace Kelly's dress. Her veil was held in place by a Cartier Tiara, lent to her by the Queen.

After a beautiful ceremony the couple left Westminster Abbey as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Kate had a lovely evening gown, also designed by Sarah Burton, which she wore with a cute bolero jacket.

The Guests Fashion: Hit or Miss?

HIT: Victoria Beckham, who is heavily pregnant with her fourth child, still managed to look sleek and sexy in a dress from her own range and gravity defying hells by Christian Louboutin. And David, well he looks as gorgeous as ever! MISS: Princesses Euginie and Beatrice couldn't look worse. Euginie's Vivienne Westwood frock is beyond awful and just looks frumpy, and don't even get me started on that vile thing on Beatrice's head! MISS: Sarah Bercow looked as though she was dressed for another occasion, the dress is probably not the most appropriate for a royal wedding, but even if it was, that print is just ugly...

HIT: Maid of Honour Pippa Middleton looked radiant in a beautiful Alexander McQueen dress, again designed by Sarah Burton that showed of her gorgeous figure. HIT: The Prime Minister's wife Samantha Cameron caused quite a stir when she arrived with out a hat, good thing she was wearing this lovely Burberry dress, and good on her for supporting the good British high street in Aldo heels!
HIT: Mother-of-the-bride Carole Middleton chose a lovely sky-blue crepe coatdress by Catherine Walker. Very flattering and beautiful! HIT: Queen Elizabeth chose an outfit perfect for the Spring occasion in an Angela Kelly lemon-sorbet coloured dress. HIT: Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall wore an Anna Valentine outfit, (the same designer who designed her wedding dress when she married Prince Charles), perfect choice. HIT: Soul singer Joss Stone swapped her usual bare-foot hippy look for a more ladylike choice, although I could've done with out all the matchy accessories HIT: Lady Sophie Windsor wore a cocktail dress and coat by Giorgio Armani Prive, with exaggerated shoulders and graphic hat, she looked fashionable and beautiful.
MISS: Tara Palmer-Tomkinson looked a bit much in a very blue ensemble and a weird boat-like hat. MISS: Prince Harry's on/off girlfriend Chelsey Davy has been known to have a bit of a wild streak, and she didn't disappoint, her Alberta Ferretti outfit was too tight (tight satin is never flattering!) and too short for royal wedding standards. HIT: The petite Princess Letizia of Spain judged her outfit perfectly: a pale pink bandage dress by Felipe Varela and a charming hat.
