I hear those sleigh bells ringing

It's been a pretty hectic couple of weeks for me, hence my pathetic amount of blog posts!
Last Thursday was the last day of school (wohoo!), and that evening my dad, my sister and me went to see Aloe Blacc. I wasn't be biggest fan of his but my dad loves him so I went with him, but afterwards I was so glad I went, because he was amazing! He has such a lovely voice, and was so impressive as he did jazz, rapping, R'n'B and pop, as well as some super cute dancing!
On the Friday me and my friends went to the travel agent to try to organise our holiday for next year. We are planning to go to Malia, but it's proving hard to organise 8 people! Oh and i went to see New Years Eve at the cinema, such a cute film, I definitely recommend!
On Monday, I went to my Sixth Form fancy dress Christmas party! I was desperately running around trying to find an outfit, and all the accessories. In the end I decided to go as a cave woman! My sister went as a 20s flapper girl - she looked awesome! It was such a great night!
Before the fancy dress party!

I have also been trying to finish my Christmas shopping - I always leave it until a few days before Christmas, and then it's a big rush to find everything! But we managed to do the majority of it! We've got family coming round on Christmas day, so there is loads of preparation for that! I can't wait for the 25th now!
On top of this, I have A-level exams in January, so I have lots of revision to do over the holidays, and coursework to complete :(. My birthday is smack bang in the middle of my exams as well which sucks, but it's not all bad, because I'm going to be 18! Exciting times!

Merry Christmas!

Under The Mistletoe

Can you believe that we are only 18 days away from Christmas Day! I am so excited; it's my favourite time of the year!
Here's my selection of the best things to kick of the festive party season!

1) The Frocks
The perfect glitzy party frock!

2) The Cocktails
This ones for my sister, who's really into her cocktails...

- 2 parts chilled lemonade
- 1 part chilled advocaat
- 1/2 lime squeezed
- sugar to decorate the glass
Mix the ingredients together and serve with a slice of lime and a cherry.

Santa’s Christmas Delight

- 3 parts Irish whiskey
- 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice
- soda water
- few drops of grenadine
Mix the ingredients together. Serve in a tall glass on ice. As a variation, try using ginger ale rather than soda water or Schweppes Russian.

- 2 parts vodka/gin
- 1 part dry martini
- ½ part crème de menthe
Either mix in a cocktail shaker with ice or simply serve on ice in a martini glass. A festively coloured green version of the famous cocktail.

- 1 bottle red wine
- 60g demerara sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- grated nutmeg
- 1 orange halved
- 1 dried bay leaf
Put the wine in a saucepan with the orange, sugar, bay leaf and the spices. Heat gently until the sugar has dissolved. Taste to see if you want the wine sweeter, and add more sugar to taste. Strain into heatproof glasses and serve at once.
OK, Mulled Wine isn't really a cocktail, but I thought I'd add it in anyway; its a Christmas classic!
3) The Entertainment
New and old Christmas fun!

4) The Festive Knits
Cute and comfy knits to snuggle up in after a fabulous night!

Twilight Premiere!

On Saturday I went to watch the new Twilight film, Breaking Dawn.
In the much-anticipated fourth installment of the romance fantasy film (adapted from the equally successful books by Stephanie Meyer), Pattinson's much-adored character Edward Cullen marries his long-term love Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart. The rest of the two films see Bella fighting a lethal battle with her beastly unborn child that grows rapidly inside her, feeding off her blood which eventually  sees Bella on her death bed. This forces Edward to make the life-changing decision to either lose the human Bella he loves forever or to finally give into her dying wish and give her the eternal life she has been asking for.
Breaking Dawn: Part 2 - the final film in the franchise - will not be released until next November.

The LA Premiere:
The stars of the film and other celebraties walked the red black carpet at the LA premiere at the Nokia Theatre.
Stars of the film: Edward Cullen, Bella Swan and Jacob Black aka Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner

In another life, I would be your girl

Katy's done it again! She's followed up on her massive hits 'Teenage Dreams', 'E.T.', 'Last Friday Night' and 'Firework' with this beauty!
This week saw the release of Katy Perry's highly anticipated video for 'The One That Got Away'; it's one of my favourites from her album, its such a beautiful song, with such a sweet but sad story. Not only does the 27-year-old show true vulnerability and sadness in her latest music video, but she also morphs into an old woman!
She hardly seems like the pop star that the world has come to know and love.
I also noticed that the young Katy in this video looks so much like Zooey Deschanel!

The video features the incredibly hot Mexican director Diego Luna as Katy's boyfriend.

Katy said about 'The One That Got Away': 'This song shows a very different side of me that I haven't shown with my past singles on this record, I think that everyone can relate to this song.' She also said 'I wrote this song about when you promise someone forever, but you end up not being able to follow through.'
'It's a bittersweet story - hopefully the listener learns from hearing it and never has to say they had 'The One' get away'.

The director Floria Sigismondi also directed the video for 'E.T.' and has directed videos for artists/bands such as Christina Aguilera, The White Stripes and Muse.

What do you think of Katy's new video?

I've Started eBay-ing!

Times are hard for everyone these days, especially for us fashionistas who like to look fabulous all the time! So in a desperate attempt to make some money I have set up an eBay account with my (equally skint) cousin.
When I was looking for stuff to sell, I was surprised by hown much stuff I had that I had from years ago and had never worn or only worn once. Also, I found things that were given to me as a gift, and I'd keep for years because I didnt have the heart to sell it. But I've got to let go now! So it's all on there!
Between the two of us, we have some great items including a pair of True Religion jeans, and Aquascutum coat and a Juicy Couture bag!

Check it out!

Chanel Spring/Summer 2012

Karl Lagerfeld never fails to disappoint when it comes to putting on an epic show. We’ve had models descending off giant merry-go rounds, frolicking in hay bales and splashing through ankle deep water.
This season Chanel wowed us even more, and took us under the sea with Florence Welch opening and closing the show in a giant clam shell.
The beautiful Miranda Kerr made her successful transistion between Victoria Secret angel to high fashion model as she walked the sand covered runway.

Overall, I think that the collection is femminine, romantic and dream-like, some definite classics!

Week of Outfits

I haven't done a 'Today's Outfit' post in ages, so I thought I'd make up for it today by showing you 3 outfits!

This first outfit was worn when I went out to dinner with my friends recently. I am loving coloured jeans at the moment, and was desperate for a pair, so I bought this dark read pair the other week. I teamed the jeans with this cute bow-tie shirt.
Shirt: H! by Henry Holland
Jeans: Miss Selfridge
This outfit was worn to my cousins 22nd birthday dinner. I loved this outfit because its so simple, so its all about the accessories.
Scarf: Miss Selfridge
Vest: H&M
Necklace: H&M
Clutch: Accessorize
Jeans: Miss Selfridge
This outfit was worn to another dinner with friends, but as you can probably tell from the short dress, this outfit was from back in August.
Dress: H&M
Bag: Accessorize
Belt: H&M
Ring: a shop (I can't remember what it's called) in Russia

In a galazy far, far away...

In early 2011 we saw Dolce and Gabbana's lacey Spring collection erupt into one of the hottest looks on the red carpet. And it looks like they've done it again this season!
Now D&G has us seeing stars with their newest trend!
The Italian fashion house pioneered the look in their Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, with the bold print splashed on everything from body-cons to skinny trousers to flowing maxis. Since then, it has become huge hit, among A-listers, with the likes of Jessica Alba, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Wilde and Rosario Dawson rocking the look on the red carpet.
So, what is it that is making this star print fly off the shelves? Well D&G have cleverly fused a fun print with sexy silhouettes; a great way to combine girly and sultry = irresistible!
But not all of us have the hefty bank balance to indulge in beautiful D&G dresses, so it's a good thing that the good old British high street has produced some fabulously on-trend pieces:

Tea and a catch up?

Hello bloggers!
So its been a while since I last blogged, but its because I've been away!
Firstly I went for the weekend to Reading Festival! Which I can only describe as disgusting but amazing! The bands were great and because I didn't actually know a lot of the bands there, I was introduced to some amazing acts. My highlight of the weekend was seeing 30 Seconds To Mars and Ed Sheeran, who were both incredible. It was my fist time camping, and I'm not gonna lie to you, it was pretty gross. The toilets in the campsite were beyond awful, and I have never had such an uncomfortable sleep in my life. And I cannot even describe how bad the mud was - at some points it was knee deep! As amazing as the experience was, I was sooooo happy when I got home to a shower and my bed! I'll post some photos soon! I would've done it sooner, but I used disposable cameras so I have to wait to get them developed. I'm hoping that I don't collected them, and they're all black!
I can't wait to try out other festivals now; bring on next summer!

Here are some of the amazing acts I discovered at Reading!

This is Daughter at the BBC Introducing Stage for unsigned/undiscovered acts. I was in this crowd watching her! I just love her voice it's so beautiful but haunting at the same time. My favourite song is Lanfill. The second video id from Bejamin Francis Leftwitch

Rainy Boy Sleep, at the Introducing Stage. My last video is from Miles Kane, who I found out is a pretty well known act, but I had never heard of him and stumbled across his act at the NME stage and loved the 'classic rock' sound to it.

The day after I returned from Reading I flew to Sitges, Spain for a few days with my mum and sisters before we go back to school/work. It was so nice to have a bit of sun and just relax on the beach after my 4 sleepless nights in Reading! Sitges is such a lovely town; there was lots of nice tapas restaurants and cute boutiques.
It was just the perfect relaxing holiday!

Book Review: One Day...

I love reading, and I used to get through a book a week! But since I started my A levels I became pretty lazy with it, so this summer I was determined to start reading again. And I have just finished the lovely novel One Day by David Nicholls. Heard of it? Well I don't know how you could not have heard of it, it's everywhere! On trains, in cafes, in waiting rooms; people of all ages are engrossed in One Day!
It tells the tale of two people, Em and Dex, who become friends after a near one-night-stand on the 15th July 1988. Each chapter focuses on what they are doing on this date every year for the next 20 years, sometimes they are together, sometimes they are not. Nicholls keeps you gripped as each chapter ends leaving you wondering what's going to happen next but then the next chapter begins set a year later and the situation has completely changed in surprising and interesting ways.
Nicholls creates characters which seem both real and likable; Emma is a funny, directionless, honest girl and Dexter is an arrogant, charming, handsome guy. And although they may not be a match made in heaven you skick with them as the book takes us through their will-they-won't-they relationship.
Reading it, you can't help but draw comparisons between Nicholls and Nick Hornby, in that they both write in a simple and frank style. Hornby has said that he thinks One Day is a "one-off love story", which is exactly how I feel about it; the novel is not only hilarious, and memorable, but is also emotional and unbearably sad.
One Day was published in 2009, so why now, in 2011, has it become such a hit? Well, Nicholls has now adapted his book into a screenplay and the film is starring two pretty huge actors: Anne Hathaway as Emma and Jim Sturgess as Dexter. The film has been directed by An Education's Lone Scherfig and is out this month, I cannot wait to see it!

A Tale of Two Cities: St Petersburg and Brighton

So far I am loving the summer! Granted the weather is still pretty rubbish, but these past few weeks have been amazing!

On the 29th, me and my family flew to St. Petersburg, Russia for a 5-day break. I'd never been before and was really apprehensive about the trip, but I was pleasantly surprised. Russia had the such beautiful architecture and and amazing history. We did hours of walking around the city snd although I was shattered by the fifth day, it was such a fantastic trip.

Then the following weekend I went to Brighton for my cousins 22nd birthday! I had such an amazing time on beach, walking up and down the pier, browsing through vintage shops (I got the most stunning vintage sequin cardigan!) and drinking coktails! We were lucky to have decent weather that weekend too!
We've decided we are defiently going next year too! Such a fun place!

And I've still got so much to look foward too! This week I'm doing a fashion photography course at the V&A museum, which should be fun. And then towards the end of the holidays I am going to the Reading festival for the weekend, which is sure to be an experience! And then my driving test! Wish me luck!!
